| FY 2018 – FY 2023 Secondary Six Year Plan Joint Public Hearing with VDOT |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation:
| Following the public hearing staff recommends that the Board adopt the attached resolution approving VDOT’s FY 2018 – FY 2023 Secondary Six Year Plan. |
| | | | | | | | Summary:
| The Secondary Six Year Plan (attached) is the secondary road transportation construction plan that is presented to the Board of Supervisors at a public hearing for approval on an annual basis. This plan includes VDOT’s proposed Secondary Construction Budget of $440,925 for FY2018 and it outlines the projects prioritized by the Board of Supervisors in previous years for completion with the allocated funding. The funding for the Secondary Six Year Plan is derived from state and federal gasoline taxes, vehicle title fees, vehicle sales tax, and one-half percent of the state’s sales tax and distributed to the primary urban and secondary systems after addressing maintenance, administrative costs, and other priorities established in the Code of Virginia. As recommended by the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors last year and further approved by the Transportation Committee in March of this year the funds shown will be allocated to the existing project to complete the existing priorities rather than add additional projects. |

| | | | | | | | Consequence of Denial/Inaction:
| VDOT will not have a County-supported FY 2018 – FY 2023 Secondary Six Year Plan and FY 2018 Secondary Road Construction Budget which could prevent the County from receiving any future 6-year allocations. Such allocations would then be distributed to other localities within the Commonwealth for use. |
