Recommendation:

VDOT requests that the Board of Supervisors approve a letter of support for the Alternative Design for the Route 606 Overpass Project at I-95 and Interchange Improvements East of I-95 on Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road).

Summary:

This project is scheduled to go before the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) to get the approval of the limited access for the Route 606 East project.  (Since the design was changed during the procurement process, VDOT must seek CTB re-approval including the new design.)

One of the items needed is a letter of support from the County or a resolution.  We felt that a letter would be sufficient.  Attached you will find a draft letter to support the limited access for this project and a project rendering showing the limited access. VDOT held the public hearing for this new design in late April (two weeks ago). Only twelve people came to the public hearing and no major comments or concerns were expressed.

The Board is asked to authorize the County Administrator to execute the attached letter of support.
