| A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued by the County of Fairfax in September 2014 for the purchase of computer hardware, software and services. The County of Fairfax has a cooperative clause which allows other localities to purchase hardware, software and services from the awarded vendor CAS Severn, Inc.
Staff is requesting the purchase of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Generation 10 Servers and Storage Area Network (SAN) to replace the current virtual environment. The current generation 8 environment is beyond its end of life support. Purchasing this new environment will allow IS to provide continued and sustained availability of critical County operations, and add required storage to allow moving additional systems to a virtualized environment. |

| The aging Servers will not be able to accommodate the growing volume of data and computing systems requirements. Intermittent application outages may be experienced as a result the ageing servers being taken out of service in order to perform maintenance or repairs disrupting the impacted departments. Maintenance costs will rise. |
