The Planning Commission Bylaws, Article II - Officers, outline the following procedure:
- The presiding officer shall call for nominations from the membership.
- Any member, after being recognized by the presiding officers, may place one or more names in nomination and discuss his or her opinions on the qualifications of the nominees.
- When all nominations have been made, the presiding officer shall close the nominating process and call for the vote.
- The presiding officer shall call the name of each nominee in the order nominated and tally the respective votes.
- Each member may cast one vote for any one nominee.
- A majority of those voting shall be required to elect the officer.
A candidate receiving a majority vote of the entire membership of the Planning Commission shall be declared elected. The newly-elected Chairperson shall take office immediately and follow the same procedure for election of the Vice-Chairperson. |
