Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Board adopt the attached resolution approving discontinuance of Judicial Center Lane from the State Secondary System of State Highway maintenance.
Summary:
Planning staff and representatives of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) conducted inspections of Judicial Center Lane located in the Berkeley Voting District.  The surrounding properties are all owned and controlled by Spotsylvania County. The purpose in discontinuing this portion of road is as a safety measure to the courthouse. The result will be that the portion of Judicial Center Lane directly behind the courthouse will be controlled with bollards to eliminate free flow vehicle access.

Judicial Center Lane will remain in the Virginia Secondary System of State Highways and the Circuit Court will not be able to secure the area behind the Courthouse.
