Staff is seeking input from the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors on the focus areas and approach to the update of the Comprehensive Plan |

| Summary: |
The Code of Virginia requires that jurisdictions review their Comprehensive Plan every five (5) years and update as necessary. The 2013 update of the Comprehensive Plan resulted in substantial revisions. The 2018 update is proposed to consist of necessary updates and desired enhancements to support the County's Vision as defined in Chapter 1 of the Comprehensive Plan. This joint work session is an opportunity for the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission to discuss the Plan and provide staff with direction on the update approach, focus areas, and process. |

The Comprehensive Plan was updated twice in 2016. Once related to the changes in the Code of Virginia related to proffers and the second amendment was an update to the Transportation Chapter. |
