Recommendation: Approve the award of contract(s) to ChemTrade Chemicals US, LLC, Industrial Chemicals, Inc., Southern Ionics, Inc., Suffolk Sales & Service Corporation, Univar USA, Inc. and X2O, Inc. for Wastewater Treatment Chemicals for the Utilities/Public Works Department. The contracts have been approved as to form by the County Attorney’s Office.
Summary:

An Invitation for Bid (IFB) was issued to solicit bids from qualified companies to provide Wastewater Treatment Chemicals for the Utilities/Public Works Department.  Sixteen bids were received for this procurement. There were no vendors who bid on all chemicals which resulted in multiple awards that provide the lowest cost per chemical to the County.

This Agreement shall have a term limit from date of award through July 31, 2019 and may be renewed for five (5) additional one (1) year terms at the option of Spotsylvania County.

Additional Background/Other Considerations:

The contracts are attached which have been signed by each of the vendors and County Attorney’s office.

 

Wastewater Treatment Chemicals are to be purchased on an as needed basis and delivered to the following locations: Massaponax Wastewater Treatment Plant, FMC Wastewater Treatment Plant and Thornburg Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Consequence of Denial/Inaction: Failure to approve these contracts will leave the designated facilities without a service provider to deliver the Wastewater Treatment Chemicals required to treat water at the Wastewater Treatment Plants.
