| Staff recommends approval of revisions to the Remote Attendance Policy, to align with current Virginia code §2-2-3708-2. The Remote Attendance Policy is intended to allow a member of any Spotsylvania County public body to participate in a meeting electronically, from a remote location. |

| In July 2013, a Remote Attendance Policy was approved by the Board of Supervisors, to align with new Virginia code §2.2-3708.1 that allowed a member of any public body to participate electronically in a public meeting, within specific criteria and requirements. Modifications to the Remote Attendance Policy, to align with revised Virginia code §2.2-3708.2, have been made for review and approval by the Board of Supervisors to reflect code changes made effective July 1, 2018. These changes include removal of "emergency" as a reason for absence, removal of the requirement "25 percent of the meetings," revision regarding conduct of meeting stating "chair" of the public body and that documentation related to the details of any rejection by a Spotsylvania County public body must be noted in the minute notes with specificity. |
