| Summary: |
The Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission have expressed interest in reviewing the Mixed Use Zoning District for potential amendments. Staff has reviewed the code against the Code of Virginia and found that Mixed Use is specifically defined in the Code of Virginia to include two or more uses. The language in the current code is not clear that a Mixed Use project shall have at least two types of uses, so that will require an amendment. In addition, staff has some other recommended amendments to provide clarity. Staff has reviewed comments from Board and Commission members and will present some alternatives to be considered that may address these comments. Approaches taken in other jurisdictions' Mixed Use ordinances will be reviewed. Finally, staff is seeking additional comment from the Commission on potential amendments that may address any additional concerns of the Commission. |
