Recommendation: Approve the award of a contract to Associates in Emergency Care, LLC to provide Advanced Life Support Training Programs.  The contract has been reviewed and approved as to form by the County Attorney’s Office.
Summary: A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued by the Spotsylvania County Procurement Division to solicit proposals from qualified contractors to provide advanced life support training programs.  One (1) proposal was received for this procurement and a Selection Committee reviewed the responsive and responsible proposal and recommended an award to Associates in Emergency Care, LLC.

Additional Background/Other Considerations: This contract shall have a term limit of three (3) years and may be renewed for three (3) additional one (1) year terms at the option of Spotsylvania County.
Consequence of Denial/Inaction: FREM employees are contractually obligated to obtain their Advanced Life Support certification (Paramedic) within four years of recruit school graduation. This contract will provide the framework for Initial ALS Training Programs, and make these jobs required programs available in-county for career and volunteer members. Failure to approve this contract will result in increased cost and logistical challenges to assure these employees meet their contractual training obligations.
