| Grant Award Acceptance & Budget Adjustment for the Federal Fiscal Year 2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program – Local Solicitation |
|
| | | | | | | | Recommendation:
| The Finance Committee, Sheriff and staff recommend that the Board of Supervisors accept and appropriate the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) – Local Solicitation Award. |
|
| | | | | | | | Summary:
| The JAG – Local Solicitation program allows states, tribes, and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own local needs and conditions. This funding provides agencies with the flexibility to prioritize and place justice funds where they are most needed.
Under the FFY 2018 JAG award, Spotsylvania County is eligible to receive $28,834. The Sheriff’s Office would like to use the FFY 2018 JAG funds to purchase 22 body worn cameras and 3 transfer stations. Although there is no local match requirement, the total cost for these items is $29,675. The $841 balance will be funded locally from funding approved within the Sheriff’s FY 2019 Adopted budget.
If accepted, the grant period will expire on September 30, 2021. |
