Summary:

The County's consultant, JMT, will provide updates on two corridor projects funded through Revenue Sharing for Routes 2 / 17 Business and Routes 1 / 208. The studies evaluated existing conditions and opportunities for accommodating future growth, addressing current traffic congestion and mobility, and safety improvements. Both studies are comprehensive evaluations for all modes of transportation.

The Route 2 / 17 B study included the corridor from the Caroline County Line to the City of Fredericksburg.

The Route 1 /208 study looked at a total of nine intersections. These included; 1) Route 17 & Germanna Point Drive, 2) Spotsylvania Avenue & Market Street, 3) Route 1 & Market Street, 4) Route 1 & Mine Road/Hood Drive, 5) Spotsylvania Avenue & Mine Road, 6) Route 208 & Hood Drive/Houser Drive, 7) Route 208 & Southpoint Parkway/Rollingwood Drive, 8) Route 208 & Route 1/Lafayette Boulevard, and 9) Lafayette Boulevard & Falcon Drive/Mall Drive. In addition, the study included an evaluation of a roadway connection between Germanna Point Drive and Spotsylvania Avenue.

The studies were conducted as a series of on-going management task orders. Public involvement included public meetings, bi-weekly phone conferences and oversight/review by the Spotsylvania County Transportation Committee and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
