Recommendation:

If the BOS would like to make changes to the Tax Relief for the Elderly or Disabled Program, the BOS would need to authorize the advertising of a Public Hearing and the changes would become effective January 1, 2019.

Summary:

On April 12, 2018, the FY 2019 Budget was adopted with the intent that the exemption for the Tax Relief for the Elderly or Disabled Program would be increased from $1,200 to $1,500.

 

New Public Hearing date is March 12, 2019.

Financial Impact:
The change to the exemption from $1,200 to $1,500 was estimated at budget time to decrease real estate revenue by $130,372.  This decrease was factored into the FY 2019 Budget that was adopted on April 12, 2018.
