| | | | | | | | Agenda Title:
| Public Hearing of Amendment to the County Code Chapter 7, Section 89, Regarding the Location of the Central Absentee Voter Precinct Polling Place
| | | | | | | | Recommendation:
| Staff recommends that the Board adopt the ordinance amendment to reflect the new location of the central absentee voter precinct polling place.
| | | | | | | | Summary:
| The County has a central absentee voter precinct authorized under Virginia law. The polling place for the County’s precinct is the General Registrar’s office, as it is for many Virginia jurisdictions. The address of the polling place is set out in the County Code to comply with Virginia law. When the General Registrar’s office moved in March of 2018, the polling place for the central absentee voter precinct also moved. The County Code now must be amended to reflect the new location.

| | | | | | | | Consequence of Denial/Inaction:
| County Code would not be in compliance with Virginia law requiring that it provide the address for the polling place of each precinct. The incorrect information could render future election results vulnerable to challenge.
