Recommendation:
Approve the award of a Purchase Order to McClung-Logan Equipment Company, Inc. in the amount of $277,630.00 for a new model year Volvo L11OH Wheel loader for the landfill operations.
Summary:
A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued for Heavy Construction Equipment with related accessories, attachments, and supplies by National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) of which the County is a member.  The County is purchasing a new model year Volvo wheel loader from the authorized dealer McClung-Logan Equipment Company, Inc. The wheel loader will be used for composting operations at the Livingston landfill.
Financial Impact:
Adequate funding is budgeted and appropriated within project SR1502, account 520-9180-802-8001 for award of this contract for this purpose.

Additional Background/Other Considerations:
The Purchase Order has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney’s Office.
Consequence of Denial/Inaction:
The existing model year 2002 CAT 938 rubber tire loader with 17,000 hours has reached the end of its useful life expectancy. Continued use would lead to high maintenance cost and eventually total failure. The unit will enter reserve upon delivery of the new loader.  Failure would lead to a decrease in our ability to process biosolids and produce compost.
