Recommendation:
Staff recommends the establishment of a multi-member Department of Social Services (DSS) Local Administrative Board effective January 2020.
Summary:

Staff recommends the establishment of a multi-member DSS Administrative Board effective January 2020, made up of 7 members, one from each district, with the County Administrator, or his designee, serving as chair/alternate member.  The current DSS Advisory Board would continue to function until then.

 

An alternative would be a 3 member DSS Administrative Board with the County Administrator, or his designee, serving as chair/alternate member. 

 

If it is decided to keep the single-member DSS Administrative Board, recommend expanding the role of the current DSS Advisory Board.


Financial Impact:
Approximately $ 20,000 for FY 2020.
